Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of athletes do you treat, and do I have to be a professional or amateur athlete to benefit from ESMH services?
The word athlete can be defined broadly. It includes athletes in non-traditional sports such as dancers, parkour and military or tactical athletes; and the performing arts such as stunt performers, drummers, physical actors and artists.
I treat athletes and coaches at all levels and stages of their careers, from early to retired.
But individuals who are athletic, fitness-oriented, and holistic in their strategy to mental health, may find value in my approach and are welcome in the ESMH space.
However, I also have a separate practice for non-athletes at rhianaroquemd.com.
Do you treat children?
I only treat patients who are 18 years and older.
Do you specialize in certain sports?
Having spent many years in dance and combat sports (grappling, boxing, kickboxing), I have additional understanding of the challenges athletes face in these fields.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, I do not take insurance. However I can give you a Superbill which you can take to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, if they allow out-of-network providers. The clinic is not responsible for ensuring reimbursement.
How much do services cost and how long are the appointments?
Generally, initial appointments are 90 to 120 minutes, while follow-ups are 45 to 60 minutes. Please send a message for rates. I offer discounts and pre-paid follow-up packages. Please inquire here.
How are fees paid?
All fees are to be paid at the time of the appointment through credit card.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Otherwise a 33% late cancellation fee applies, or higher for no-shows.
Do you treat patients outside of California and Nevada?
In accordance with my medical licenses and state laws, the patient must be located in either California or Nevada at the time of the appointment.
